Thursday July 11th
Depart Toronto 17:40
Friday July 12th
Arrive Paris 7:00
Drive 5hrs to Lyon Arrive Lyon after lunch
Check-in, spend afternoon in Lyon
Saturday July 13th
Morning ride 40k 2hrs Spend day in Lyon including watching tour stage finish in afternoon
Sunday July 14th
Morning depart Lyon driving 3hrs to Avignon
**I suggest staying in Avignon rather than Orange, bigger city, more stuff to do and only 30km away**
Going to be difficult/impossible to watch stage on Ventoux as roads will be closed. Possible to cycle to vantage point low on Ventoux to watch stage go by, then cycle back to car to watch finish at café/bar
Check-in Aviginon
Monday July 15th
Tour rest day, Drive to Bedoin, ride Mont Ventoux Spend rest of day in Avignon
Tuesday July 16th
Morning depart Avignon, drive 2.5hrs to Grenoble, dropping off riders in Vercors parc
Drop riders off in Vercors park to ride into Grenoble final 60km
Some pictures of the senic Vercors
Check-in Grenoble
Spend day in Grenoble
Wednesday July 17th
Morning drive to Bourg d’Oisans
ride Alpe d’huez (2hrs)
Return Grenoble, spend rest of day in Grenoble
Thursday July 18th
Drive to Bourg d’Oisans, watch Tour on Alpe d’Huez.
Might be possible to watch on steep 1st hairpin of Alpe d’huez both ascents and hurry back to Bourg d’Oisans to watch stage finish on TV at café/bar
Drive back to Grenoble by early evening
**Traffic may be completely insane because of the stage***
The more I think about it, the more crazy I think its going to be getting there and leaving. Its a one lane highway from Grenoble to Alpe d'huez but there is going to be literally half a million people on alpe d'huez - it could be carnage and I don't want to sit in a car for 4 hours getting back to the hotel...
Friday July 19th
Depart Grenoble, drive 2.5 hours to Morzine Arrive Morzine around Lunch
Ride Avoriaz – a 12km climb out the door, back in 2 hours max
Spend rest of day in Morzine
Saturday July 20th
Ride Joux Plane – 50km / 3hrs in Morning
This is my alternative to riding down to Annecy & back to watch the stage - the return ride would be close to 4hours - the stage is actually a loop south of Annecy making it difficult to get to.
Joux Plane is a classic tour climb and we could knock this off in the morning, then have all day to do stuff maybe even watch the finish at a cafe in Geneva??
Or hang out in Morzine but probably not much to see/do??
Sunday July 21st
Either spend day in Morzine, nearby day trip or perhaps depart for Paris.
Paris is a good 6hour drive and leaving it to Monday means it will be hard to enjoy Monday afternoon in Paris after such a long drive.
Leaving Morzine Sunday gives us an easy but long drive to Paris, can check into hotel and have the evening/night in Paris and also a full day Monday in Paris.
Note that there is a big 100th tdf photo exhibit in jardins du luxembourg - 6th adornisment
Monday July 22nd
Entire day in Paris, or if we stayed in Morzine, drive to Paris
Tuesday July 23rd
